It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that we are just 5 weeks (or less) away from meeting our baby girl!!
Some weeks I’m calm as a cucumber, other weeks, I lay awake at night anxiety ridden and run around like a mad woman trying to get everything together for the nursery and house. Nesting is a real thing people. While I was still in my second trimester, people would ask me, ‘Are you nesting yet? You look like a nester.’ I was so chill and replied, ‘no’. I didn’t think it was a real thing or even something that I’d “develop”. Well, 31 weeks hit and it was like from then on I’ve been bossing around my husband and commanding him to get everything together because I am in full baby-prep mode.
For those of you who don’t know what nesting is, for me it was like all of a sudden this overwhelming, instinctual desire took over me to get the house ready for baby. I had this frantic feeling like there was so much to do before baby comes and not enough time to do it!
In reality, there is so much to do!!! Her nursery is almost done, but I still want to prepare things like an infant first aid kit, wash all her bottles, read more baby-prep books, finish packing my hospital bag, DEEP CLEAN the entire house, and so much more. I honestly just want a whole week where I can do all these things. And I wish I had the stamina and capability to – heavy lifting is out of the question. I can’t even carry the laundry hamper up the stairs.
Anyways, my 35 week belly has family members surprised at how big I’ve gotten and also has attracted some unwanted comments from strangers. For example the other day a man says to me, ‘Wow, you look like you’re about to explode!‘…um, thanks?! Another strange interaction was when we went out to eat the other night and our waiter, bends down, puts his face 3 inches from my belly and proceeds to talk to my baby! TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT! The only other person who has ever done this to me is my husband and I’d like to keep it that way.
On to the dress…this maxi probably has to be my favorite maternity dress find thus far. It’s so pretty, well made, and fits my belly perfectly. I also love that there was no hemming needed (I wore 1.5 in heels under this)! It also comes in a non-maternity version, and I think the non-maternity version would also be good for a pregnant belly just because the cut of the dress starts right under your boobs, and the rest of the dress is flowy. I sized up to a US 6 in this dress, not sure if that’s my new normal, but I’ve also increased in cup size so that’s why I sized up. If you’re looking for a pretty summer dress for a day wedding or even a baby shower, this dress is perfect!
