How we found out we were pregnant…

Well it all started a week or two before Thanksgiving (2017). I remember we were planning to host our housewarming/Friendsgiving party and I was frantically ordering things here and there for the house and making sure everything was in order. But I was just extremely exhausted. Each night I had to drag myself to the gym because the holidays were coming up and then cook dinner after, but I was just wiped out. I actually thought I had mono or something. I must be getting sick I told myself.

Symptoms (TMI alert): My boobs had been so extremely sore and bigger than usual and sorer than usual, but I just thought, ‘oh I’m about to get my period.’ And when I was a couple days late on my period, I just thought, ‘oh it must be because I’m getting sick.’ Never once during this whole time did I really think I could possibly be pregnant, just a joke I would throw around. One day at work (before our Friendsgiving party) I was complaining to my coworker how I’d been feeling so exhausted, how I was getting headaches that I’ve never gotten before, and how dizzy and light headed I felt. I asked her what she thought I could be possibly coming down with.

She looked at me amused and goes, ‘it sounds like your pregnant.’ I nervously laughed it off and said no…couldn’t be. She asked if I was late on my period and I lied and said I wasn’t. That weekend my best friend was visiting from out of town and I told her everything and joked that I might possibly be pregnant. I tried laughing it off, but she was so serious and told me I had to take a test ASAP. She also told me that I should probably lay off drinking at my own housewarming party. I hoped no one noticed…

Once back at work on Monday, I decided to google “early symptoms of pregnancy” because I thought, there was no way I could possibly be feeling these symptoms this early on. BUT I WAS WRONG! And the google search yielded links that basically checked off ALL OF MY SYMPTOMS. I sent the link to Trey and he stopped by the drugstore afterwork to grab a test and…prenatal vitamins haha. The man was sure I was pregnant, even if I wasn’t as sure myself.

Welp, I took the test that evening and BAM — results showed a clear and immediate ‘YES +‘. I went downstairs and tried my hardest to lie to Trey and tell him it was negative…so I could surprise him later! But he knew I was lying immediately and we just both hugged each other and I started to cry because I couldn’t believe it!!!

Several weeks and an ultrasound later, we found out I was about 10 weeks along – just a few weeks before Christmas. I still had to pinch myself several weeks later. And now, I instead of a pinch, I get to feel our baby girl’s kicks to confirm it is all very real. I have to say this is one of the happiest times in our lives. I can’t wait until our little one arrives :).

**I know I said I’d share some of our shower pictures, but I’m still waiting on those. Stay tuned 🙂
