Today, I’m so excited to share the details of our babymoon trip. I got so many questions about where we stayed so I wanted to recap as many details as I can.
For the longest time, I could not settle on where I wanted to go for our little getaway. I knew I’d be just shy of my third trimester when we planned our trip so I did not want to go anywhere we’d have to fly. Living in Atlanta, there are so many fun destinations that were under an 8 hour drive, but we also wanted to go somewhere we had never been. I knew I wanted to go somewhere beachy and relaxing, but not crowded and full of spring-breakers. This was tough especially this time of year. After weeks of looking and googling ‘beach resorts in Florida’, I somehow found a giant pink palace on a beautiful beach with amazing reviews. Enter – The Don CeSar. Yes, I planned our babymoon around a hotel. After reading the reviews, seeing the resort’s amentities and amazing pictures of the beach and hotel grounds, I was sold.
Real life did not disappoint. Trey and I booked the King Suite with a balcony and view of the Gulf/beach – worth it for the view. While booking, I asked if early check-in would be available and was told it usually is and if it’s not they store your stuff for you and allow you to change and hit the pool. We got there hours before our check-in time and lucky enough – our room was already ready for us. Hotel staff unloaded our car for us and brought our luggage up to the room.
Once we got to our room, I immediately changed and threw on my bathing suit and this beach dress/cover up. Although this dress is very booby, I loved loved loved it. It is maternity but it also comes in non-maternity. I’m wearing my normal ASOS size – a US 4. Being 5’2, it was amazing this dress didn’t need hemming. In a perfect world, it would have been great if it was a centimeter shorter. I was eyeing this dress for months, and snagged it a week before the trip on sale for $44!! #WINNING! Not pictured is this Kate Spade scallop swimsuit (top & bottoms).
Once changed, I couldn’t wait to explore the hotel grounds. After soaking in all the pink, Trey and I were starving at this point and ended up going to a restaurant just a few minutes drive away. We ate at Sea Critter Cafe because it was right on the water and had lobster rolls! Honestly, I don’t know why it has 4 stars. I would give it 3 stars at best. The view is definitely great, but the food was meh. My lobster roll was overpriced for frozen lobster and Trey’s fish and chips were also underwhelming. Although we plan to return to The Don, we will not be going back Sea Critter Cafe. If you’re in the area, I don’t recommend it.
Stay tuned for day ✌🏼 of our babymoon. I’ll share beach and poolside details!
