The fourth day of our honeymoon was our first full day in Rome. I’d loved to say we were up early each morning ready to take advantage of the city…but we weren’t. Trey and I were usually never out of bed until after 11 a.m. But hey, it was our honeymoon after all so we wanted to be as well rested and relaxed as possible. Plus, we’re night owls so we were usually exploring Rome well past midnight.
Our first day roamin’ Roma was spent doing a fun, FREE walking tour! What’s the catch? All they ask is that you tip the tour guide at the end. So the better he/she does, the more they get tipped! Great incentive to give you a good tour. Our guide ended up being so much fun and sooo knowledgeable – funny too!
Trey and I could have walked the city ourselves all we wanted, but would have never fully understood/knew/appreciated the architecture and rich history if we weren’t told about. If you’re ever in Rome, I highly recommend doing the Rome’s Ultimate Free Walking Tour with Lucio! They also do bike tours! Sadly, Trey and I just didn’t have enough time. All the more reason to go back!
We stumbled upon this view after walking up the Spanish Steps and had to stop to take some pictures.
This midi, off shoulder jumpsuit is what I wore for a full day of walking, touring, eating gelato and shopping! It was soo comfortable and breezy! I wore these sandals the first day, and although my feet were fine, I opted for a more cushioned pair the next few days (those Roman cobblestones are rough). I would say where sneakers, but Trey had on sneakers and his feet still hurt so it doesn’t matter. Be prepared for lots of walking!
The morning of our first full day was spent hunting for a wedding present from Trey! I honestly didn’t want anything as a “wedding day gift”…so I didn’t get one…haha. Trey was actually saving our honeymoon as the occasion to allow me to pick out something I’ve wanted for a long time – a Chanel bag.
So after some hunting, hemming and hawing over colors & styles I thought I liked, I found the color and style I loved waiting for me at the Chanel boutique in Rome :).
Now, I am no luxury purse buying expert, but I will say that it was cheaper for us to buy my Chanel classic mini flap bag in Italy than it would have been in the states. First off, it was cheaper by a few hundred dollars and secondly, we were able to receive a VAT refund (the tax were charged on the purse). If we had bought it in the states, it would have been more expensive by a few hundred and we would have also had to pay the tax on it.
Here it is 🤗 :
